• Grip and Posture: Fundamental hand positioning and body posture for optimal control and stroke consistency.
• Brush Control: Mastering brush pressure, speed, and angle for varied line weights and expressive strokes. This includes learning about the different types of brush hair and their effects.
• Ink Handling: Proper ink preparation, dilution, and application for achieving desired tones and preventing blots.
• Stroke Order and Structure: Understanding the sequence and structure of strokes within characters for balance and aesthetic harmony. Includes radical analysis and character decomposition.
• Character Analysis: Deconstructing complex characters into their component parts to understand their structure and meaning (includes radical knowledge and stroke order).
• Style Variations (Script Styles): Exploring different calligraphy styles like Kaishu (regular script), Xingshu (running script), and Cursive Script (Caoshu) and their unique characteristics.
• Paper and Ink Selection: Choosing appropriate paper and ink types based on the desired script style and personal preference.
• Composition and Layout: Arranging characters and lines on the paper for balanced and aesthetically pleasing compositions.
